After I have tested Registry Mechanic I decided to go on with another test on another registry utility, and I have chosen Registry Washer.
With a very similar architecture like registry Mechanic (all the main commands are in the main menu) and with the same price, makes you think that there is no difference between these two utilities. But is wrong. Two different application for two different users categories.
While Registry Mechanic is very friendly also in the options menu, Registry Washer gives you the ability to control it deeply. After you push the scan button all the settings will appear and you can choose which one should be done or not. Here you can find much more options to be modified, like Custom Controls, Help and Recourses, Device Drivers, etc. You will get explanations for every section that you decided to use.
Of course if you choose to to make a scan with all the sections selected, the process will take quite a while. Anyway even only with the main sections selected the speed of the scanning is slower than the one from Registry Mechanic. But I think this is a cause of a more indepth scanning process of Registry Washer.
Besides the scanning ability, the application includes also tools like:
- BHO Manager: you can manage your Internet Explorer components;
- Search Registry: search function for registry;
- Windows Startup Manager: you can manage programs inside Windows startup list;
Registry Washer includes also a scheduler in which you can schedule the next process and when to be done.
Pluses: gives the ability to control almost any aspect of the scanning process; tools for managing the startup applications and Internet Explorer functions;
Drawbacks / flaws: quite slow in scanning
In conclusion: This is a real registry manager.
