File Loader is another example of complicated software, I mean built to complicate our lives in a useless manner. The program is supposed to be an all in one Web browser, live streaming player and downloader.
The browser is based on the Internet Explorer engine and it looks like IE 5: poor interface, no multi-tabbing option, no inbuilt search engines. There is a 'Search' button included, but you need to manually configure your favourite search engine in the program 'Settings'.
As for the 'Downloader' and 'Player', what can I say? In order to download a file or to listen to online media, for example, you need to complete 5-6 steps; the fact is quite annoying and wastes your time, although the producer claims that it will save you time. As for downloaded files, you need to custom build a list of shortcut to applications used to open various files. Why so much hassle?
Further on, the producers claim that is a very good presentations creation tool, only you can save your presentations exclusively in the program's particular format. These days, when most of the software used to create presentation provide executable output files or files which can be opened by several applications, this program's feature is not of much use. I shall stop here, for now, but there's more to it.
Pluses:
Drawbacks / flaws: Another drawback is the erratic behavior: once I started listening to an online radio station, I couldn't stop it because the stop button wasn't active. However, I randomly clicked the play button again: the streaming stopped for a short while, then it automatically resumed. Another major drawback is the fact that the 'Help' section is only available online.
In conclusion: It is quite a waste of time downloading and installing this application when there are so many multi featured browsers to choose from.
