Safe Surfer is a software for blocking websites that match certain criteria. The program can also help you ensure your personal privacy by deleting your personal autofill information, history of web pages visited, cookies and Temporary Internet Files. I was never convinced by the phrase "award-winning tool", which is present on the publisher's website so I decided to give this software a try.
Safe Surfer has settings for blocking unwanted content. You can block sites with addresses and titles that contain certain words or you can add sites with friendly content. You can also set a time period for each user, during which he or she is allowed to work in the Internet.
Pluses:
Drawbacks / flaws: After I installed the software I realized that I couldn't open Internet Explorer anymore. My home page was set on Soft32.com. The Internet Explorer window opened for just a second and closed itself immediately. Same thing happened with Mozilla, but Opera opened the site without blocking it. The program interface stops responding sometimes and doesn't display information correctly. I tried deleting my history of visited web pages, because the program said that the threat level was high. The threat level didn't change, although Safe Surfer did indeed delete all my history.
In conclusion: This is a very simple program that filters web pages based on their URL or their title. In my opinion, its features are not enough for efficient content blocking.
